Andrés Correa’s Trial Work Appears in the Book, “The Last Trial of T. Boone Pickens”

LPHS partner, Andrés Correa’s trial work for T. Boone Pickens appears in the book, The Last Trial of T. Boone Pickens, by Chrysta Castañeda and Loren Steffy. The book tells the tale behind the $146 million win for Pickens’ investment company, Mesa Petroleum Partners. The chapter about Andrés’s opening, titled “A Tough Act to Follow,” describes the risk that Mike, Chrysta, and Mr. Pickens took letting Andrés—then an associate in his second jury trial—open the case. In addition, an excerpt from the book explaining the case is published in the Texas Lawbook (click here to read).

“I’d recommended that Pickens hire Mike’s firm to support me during the trial not because of its expertise with geology or oil and gas law, but because Mike had built a formidable team of trial lawyers. His firm, Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann, had won a $500 million verdict for a pipeline company a couple of years before based on a novel legal theory. The firm also had a stable of trained attorneys and paralegals who could handle all of the tasks a big trial requires,” said Castañeda.
