As President Trump’s Senate impeachment trial began, LPHS partner David Coale spoke to several reporters about the proceedings to provide perspective on the days to come. He told KXAS NBC 5: “The elections had a big effect on the timing of this. The Clinton impeachment, the investigation into Nixon sort of played out. There was time to go to court and get rulings on things. The House made the decision here – there is an election coming up, we don’t want to be doing this during the election, everyone is going to be distracted, let’s go ahead and get it done.”
