Tourism agency VisitDallas and the Mayor of Dallas are at odds over proposed bylaw changes to the organization. According to a FOX 4 news report, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson believes board members of the organization are trying to avoid oversight from the city by taking away his ability to appoint board members. A spokesperson for VisitDallas says the “bylaws on the mayor’s appointees would remain as is.”
LPHS Partner David Coale explains the significance of the proposed changes.
“The city contributes millions of tax revenue,” Coale said. “Any time you give money in that magnitude, you want to make sure it is going to the right places.”
